Newborn sessions are a peaceful time to sit back and simply watch your baby sleep...or give them loads of cuddles. The sessions are very relaxed, I am very gentle, patient and I go with the flow. They are in your own home, it is a nice familiar environment for new, sleep deprived parents and it gives older siblings the freedom to come and go. In home sessions can also lead to lifestyle images where lighting permits and these are such a beautiful way to remember all of the details from your little ones first days at home. Newborn sessions are usually within the first two weeks and take between 3-4 hours which includes plenty of time for feeding and settling. Older babies can still have a newborn session but are less likely to be as sleepy and flexible. They do have the most amazing eye contact and expressions but the session may run a little more like a lifestyle session.
Some of my favourite newborn sessions have been outdoors in the evening as the sun filters through the trees. It is a wonderful option for older newborns and for families who would prefer not to have photos in their home. There is nothing more peaceful than a baby all snuggled up asleep in safe arms as the sun settles for the day.
